I'm not sure why "Replay" doesn't seem to be famous at all, while the DaVinci Code was this big inflated international phenomenon. Hmmm. Perhaps the DaVinci Code benefitted from the free press due to its controversial religious themes (Whaddyamean, Jesus wasn't a virgin? And he had kids of his own!??!? How could this be? He was GOD, he was perfect! Perfect people don't have SEX! Let's make a big fuss and ... whoops, now the blasphemous author has sold tons of books! Oopsie!!!).

This book made me laugh out loud, and I always love it when a book can do that, because not a ton can. Sure, they can make me snort, or be like, “Yeah, that was funny,” but really LAUGH, now that doesn’t happen as much. They misogyny hits you square in the face sometimes. And there's plenty of it. It would certainly never pass the Bechdel test (or similar ones). Replay was such a cute and down to earth BL manga for me. We see two best-friends, Yuuta and Ritsu (Ri-ri!), who are considered the "married couple" of the school come to the realization of their feelings and struggles with letting go of their baseball past. This is the first sporty manga that I have read and I quite enjoyed it. I loved how sporty these two characters are and that this manga doesn't follow the stereotype of having a feminine gay and a masculine gay. La única razón por la que le pongo cuatro estrellas es porque siento que la década de los 2000 no cuenta con la profundidad de tratamiento de las décadas anteriores. También me ha parecido que algunos temas no estaban tan bien hilados y desarrollados... Me he quedado con la impresión de que el tema de las tiendas y plataformas digitales como Steam o el nacimiento de la cultura indie podía haber dado más de sí... pero me imagino que será más por tener que concluir la búsqueda de documentación en algún punto que por otra cosa.Replay by Sharon Creech puts a very interesting spin on the idea of our dreams vs. the reality we live in. The daydreamer and protagonist Leo is the key example of this, as his frequent daydreams elude to his sense of theatrical grandeur. From each segment to the next, he plays a successful football coach, a world-famous actor, and even a tap dancer. However, the true story that Creech crafts revolves around how this daydreamer of a boy handles day to day issues with a family of six (two brothers and a sister), and what his life before his first big performance, a stage play entitled Rumpopo's Porch. One day, the uke went over to the seme’s home to study together before their cram school, while the seme’s mom left to drink tea at uke’s home. The uke jokingly asked if the seme wanted to eat dinner first or eat him first. The seme said they are only a married couple when playing baseball, now they are just friends. The uke said he wants to be together even if they don’t play baseball anymore… There were parts that were quite slow or didn't pertain to the story-line. However, the art was absolutely gorgeous and this mangaka definitely has become a favourite of mine with their art style. Also, let's just appreciate this gorgeous cover! I am loving the pastel colours. Wow. I read this book in an afternoon. Okay, that’s not the first time I’ve done that for a book, but this was STUNNING. Sharon Creech has a way of weaving words together in a way that just pulls you in and makes you CARE.
